Enrolling at Summit Salon Academy Kansas City is easy. Our step-by-step process takes you from the very beginning to the completion of your enrollment. Our beauty programs include Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Instructor Training. Whichever program you choose, we believe you will appreciate the solid, comprehensive education students receive at our accredited and licensed beauty school. We challenge each student to dive deep into their personal talents and build up confidence that will carry them into the future.

Step-by-Step Enrollment Process

Follow these steps if you wish to enroll at Summit Salon Academy Kansas City:

Step 1: Schedule Your Tour
Schedule a tour of our school. We want you to see our beautiful campus and get a feel for the classrooms, Student Salon Floor, and student atmosphere.

To schedule your personal tour, you can book online, text or call us at 816-491-2568, or email us.

Step 2: Pre-Enrollment
Complete the following pre-enrollment steps to expedite your enrollment. Find class start dates on our individual program pages.

After scheduling your school tour, text the Office of Admissions at 816-491-2568 including the following information:

Your full name
Program/course of interest
Whether you plan on being a Full-time or Part-time student
Your ideal class start date and a back-up class start date
A recent and appropriate headshot/picture of yourself for your license
Proof of identity, such as a clear picture of your driver’s license or birth certificate
Proof of name change documentation, if necessary. For example, a marriage license if you have changed your last name since high school and the last names do not match across all documents.
Proof of high school education, such as a clear picture of your high school diploma or transcript or GED

Next, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if applying for financial aid assistance. There are instructions for applying for financial aid on our Financial Aid page. Please note that it takes 4-5 business days for the FAFSA® to reach us after you have submitted it.

We also ask that you complete our Admissions Personality Quiz by logging into www.truity.com with our credentials:

Take The Big 5 Personality Test. Your results will be displayed as a horizontal bar graph, please take a screenshot and text us the results for your file to 816-491-2568.

Step 3: Enjoy Your School Tour
We ask that you show up to your tour 10 minutes early to fill out a personal history form. Then, we’ll take you on a tour of the campus, show you the various rooms and facilities, introduce you to some instructors and students, and give you an opportunity to ask questions.

If you decide that we are a good fit, and you wish to apply for enrollment, you will need to verify your financial plan with our Financial Aid Director.

Step 4: Fill Out the Appropriate Paperwork
You can expect to fill out additional paperwork prior to enrolling. We have a tour package that includes steps before a student is accepted for enrollment. Please note that we do have a $25 application fee that you will need to pay before your application is complete.

Step 5: Await Acceptance
Now, all you have to do is wait for confirmation that you have been accepted and that you have a seat in your preferred program at your preferred start date! We will send you an official welcome email with this information from the Office of Admissions confirming your class seat/start date and orientation information.

Enrollment Requirements

To attend SSAKC, prospective students must:

Have a personal interview with a school official
Pass an entrance exam
Complete an enrollment form (supplied through the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners)
Provide proof of age – Birth Certificate, Drivers License or US Passport
Have attained the age of 17 before applying to take the MO State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners exam
Provide a valid high school diploma, GED certificate or a high school transcript showing 12th-grade completion
Provide two or more character references
Provide a $25 non-refundable application fee
Sign an Enrollment Agreement with Summit Salon Academy Kansas City

Academy information is made available to all students at Summit Salon Academy Kansas City in accordance with federal regulations in the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended.

What beauty programs does Summit Salon Academy Kansas City offer?

We are proud to offer full-time and part-time programs in Cosmetology, a full-time Esthetics program, and a full-time Instructor Training program.

How long does it take to complete a beauty school education?

The length of time it takes for you to complete the program of your choice may vary. Check out the individual program pages for more information on the number of hours needed to complete the course and how many weeks that may take.

Is financial aid available to prospective students?

Because we are an accredited school, we are able to offer financial aid to students who qualify. To begin the process, fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). Please contact us if you have any questions during the financial aid process.

How many students can SSAKC accommodate at one time?

Our Academy has enough room in its facilities to accommodate up to 220 students at one time. However, that does not necessarily mean your program will have that many students in it. We understand the value of smaller class sizes.

Is there a minimum age limit to enroll in one of your programs?

To enroll, you must have proof of a high school education or GED. You must also be 17 years old before applying to take the MO State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners exam.
