At Summit Salon Academy in Kansas City, You Can Receive a Professional Cosmetology Education

The cosmetology training program at Summit Salon Academy Kansas City is an advanced 1,500-hour program available to full-time and part-time students. Our professional educators train students in the subject matter of hair, skin, makeup, and nail services. This program exceeds Missouri State requirements, while preparing students to sit for the state exam.

Our passionate team of educators will develop your professional skills while teaching you about today’s salon business. We aim to give each student the foundational knowledge they need to earn a beautiful living doing what they love to do. We partner with the industry’s best, such as L’Oreal Professionnel, so our students practice using the same high-quality products they would use in a professional salon environment.

You can expect to start with learning the core fundamentals in the classroom. This soon moves into theory and workshop classes, then practical training on the Student Salon Floor. Our students work with guests from the community under the direct supervision of our licensed, professional educators. Students also benefit from support and interaction with other students in our programs. As part of our program, students receive instruction for personal development, professional development, business basics, and something we call “Over the Top Training,” which is exclusive to Summit Salon Academies. We also offer Beauty as a Business (BAAB) as a course, which teaches social media marketing, an important concept for any professional cosmetologist. We believe that by learning and training together, with the mission of making a positive difference in the world through our talents and skills, makes for an amazing teaching environment.

We understand that each student’s journey is unique, and we are committed to accommodating their individual needs and aspirations. We offer both full-time and part-time schedules and our start dates are as follows:

Start Dates Part-Time (Monday – Thursday 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM & Saturday 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM)

Styling Expertise for All Hair Types

At Summit Salon Academy Kansas City, we emphasize a holistic approach to beauty education, and this includes a deep understanding of all hair types. Our curriculum helps students learn the art of hair cutting for various hair types, enabling them to cater to the unique needs of all guests. Our curriculum is very diverse, teaching our students the skills needed to perform such services luxury blowouts, natural hair styling techniques, and braiding skills.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Cosmetology Program

How long does it take to complete the cosmetology program?

The cosmetology program is 1,500 hours, which means full-time students can complete the course in as little as 43 weeks. Part-time students may complete the program in as few as 60 weeks. We have multiple starting dates throughout the year, so you can get started on your beauty education at a time that works for you.

How much is the tuition for the cosmetology program?

Tuition: $18,650 + $2,982 Kit = $21,632 Total Tuition

Are students prepared to sit for the State Board Examination?

Yes. Our cosmetology curriculum is designed to prepare students to sit for the state exam. We believe students receive all the skills and knowledge they need to pursue a professional career after graduation.

What are the practical ways Summit Salon Academy Kansas City prepares students for the business side of beauty?

Great question! Not only do we provide hands-on workshop classes for our cosmetology students, but we also give students a chance to work on our Student Salon Floor, providing services to real clients from the community while being directly supervised by experienced instructors. Our student salon and classrooms are stocked with professional tools and products that you will find in a professional salon, including L’Oreal Professionnel products. Part of our curriculum is dedicated to shop management and salesmanship, so students can be prepared for the business aspect of the industry as well as the creative aspect.

What other programs could I take at SSAKC?

Ready to enroll? Here are the key requirements:

Have a personal interview with a school official.
Pass an entrance exam.
Complete an enrollment form supplied through the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners.
Provide proof of age (birth certificate, driver’s license, or US passport).
Be at least 17 years old before applying for the MO State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners exam.
Provide a valid high school diploma, GED certificate, or a high school transcript showing 12th-grade completion.
Submit two or more character references.
Pay a $25 non-refundable application fee.
Sign an Enrollment Agreement with Summit Salon Academy Kansas City.
Complete the admissions personality quiz.
