Janet B. – Director of Education

Janet has been married for over 38 years to her amazing husband.  They have two wonderful children and five amazing grandchildren that keep her very busy.  She loves all things cosmetology and really enjoys the learning process and seeing her students graduate, and go on to do amazing things in the beauty industry.  When her students and team achieve their goals, Janet achieves her goals, and this makes her very happy!

Beth H. – Esthetics Educator

Beth has been a licensed esthetician for years and through that, found out how much she loves to share her knowledge.  Beth holds a CIDESCO Diploma, which is one of the world’s most prestigious qualification for Aesthetics and Beauty Therapy.  She is a passionate educator, and truly loves seeing her students go out there and not only make people beautiful on the outside, but feel beautiful on the inside as well.

Christine M. – Esthetics Educator

Christine has been married for over 30 years and has two children, and one very active grandson.  Christine loves working with students that are just beginning their esthetics journey and laying down the foundation they need to excel.  She understands how important it is to have a good foundation, and this is what she brings to her Phase 1 students.  She believes if you have the passion and the drive, you can have an amazing career in the esthetics industry.

Evelyn F. – Esthetics Educator

Evelyn has over 30 years of makeup artistry, along with 10 plus years of esthetics experience. She loves everything about the beauty industry, especially teaching students and sharing her experiences and knowledge with them. Evelyn is the owner and operator of Faces By Eve LLC, where she continues to change the lives of her guests. Evelyn is a wife of 36 years and a very proud mother of 3, and an even more proud grandmother of 9! She co-pastors, alongside of her husband at New Dimensions of Praise Christian Fellowship. Her belief and motto: “Plan your work, then work your plan!”

Sarah P. – Esthetics Educator

Sarah has been a licensed cosmetologist and esthetician for over 20 years.  Her passion is makeup and special effects.  She owns her own cosmetic line, where she hand makes everything from scratch.  Sarah also loves teaching and working with her students.  She knows firsthand, that when you combine passion with hard work, amazing things will happen.  Sarah is also an Army veteran, where she proudly served our Country.  She has two wonderful kids, a daughter and a son.  Sarah is an animal lover! 

Ashley B. – Cosmetology Educator

Ashely is the proud mother of one amazing son, that keeps her very busy.  She is an amazing educator, that loves teaching our Phase 1 Cosmetology students.  Ashley knows what it takes to be successful in our industry, and having a solid base of knowledge is one of the keys to a successful career.  She loves to also introduce our students to Summit, and the Sumit principles.  Summit changes lives and so does Ashley.

Courtney C. – Cosmetology Educator

Courtney loves connecting with her students, sharing her knowledge, and teaching all things hair.  She is also passionate about learning, as she is a student herself, working on her associate degree.  Courtney is passionate about product knowledge and teaching hair color.

La’Tasha B. – Cosmetology Educator

Tasha was born and raised in KC.  She loves making people feel good, and she has always been in a career that allows her to do this.  She believes when you feel better, you are happier and you carry a calming, easy going vibe with you.  Teaching has been her most rewarding career.  Sharing her knowledge with other people, passionate about the beauty industry, fulfils her educational purpose in life.  Tasha believes life isn’t always what you want or expect it to be but what matters most are the lessons and blessings received.

Lisa S. – Cosmetology Educator

Lisa has been in the cosmetology industry for over 36 years and has been an educator for over 15 years.  She absolutely loves the beauty industry and working and teaching students.  She grew up in Nebraska and has been in Kansas City for 10 years.  She has 2 children and 3 very active grandchildren.  Her family and friends are her favorite part of her life.  When not teaching, she loves her Dance Fit classes at the gym.  She also keeps our student floor very active with her occasional dancing and singing, which her students love.  Lisa reminds us, that life is short, so we need to enjoy every day. 

Oranda M.  – Cosmetology Educator

Oranda has been a cosmetologist for over 30 years and loves the busienss of beauty. She also has over 12 years of experience as a Paramedical Esthetician and earned her Associate of Science Degree at Florida College of Natiral Health. Oranda loves to learn as well as give back to her students, through her knowledge and experience. She’s also passionate about her family and spending time with her 5 grandchildren.

Anna K. – Front Desk Coordinator

Anna is a professional costume, hair, and makeup designer for the theatre.  She is also very experienced designing plays and musicals and finds real-life connections to the fashion and beauty industry to be the most rewarding.  Anna loves working with our students and our guests at our front desk. It is her belief that everyone should feel beautiful in their own skin and should use that confidence to take control of their future.

Tonia H. – Front Desk Coordinator

Tonia and her fiancé love spending time cooking and spending time with family.  She loves working with our guests and helping our students reach their goals.  Tonia loves to tell a good story and make us all laugh.  Connecting with new people brings joy to her day.

Ginger W. – Admissions Director

Ginger graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Leadership.  She also obtained her teaching certification in Adult Education and Literacy in the State of MO.  Giving back to her community by helping other find their true self and becoming better than they were the day before is her passion.  She reminds us that a very well respected mentor of hers led off each day reminding us to strive for constant improvement rather than immediate perfection.

Marcia K. – Financial Aid Director

Marica found her passion for higher education when she worked in the financial aid office of a college as a work-study student.  After she graduated with her degree, she ended up taking a position in the financial aid office and thus, her career began.  She has been in this industry for over 25 years.  She loves being a critical part of the process and helping students find a path that allows them to reach for and achieve their goals.

Jason Y. – Director and Owner

Jason graduated from the University of MO with a degree in finance and then followed his passion for business, achieving a master’s degree in business management.  He has a passion for business and people.  Summit Salon Academy Kansas City came to be because of the success he saw his employees have at The Glam Room Salon and Med Spa.  As owners of Kansas City’s largest salon and spa, Jason and his partner Carl, have been able to help their employees build amazing careers using Summit Salon Business Center’s principles.  They believed that by bringing these same business principles to our curriculum at our academy, the industry will be elevated, and that is exactly what is happening.  Jason believes there is nothing more powerful than an individual with a drive and passion.  When you take this drive and passion, and teach this person good business principles, they will be able to achieve their financial dreams while doing something they love to do.
