Our curriculum for the Cosmetology and Esthetics programs educates students in the skills and knowledge they will need to sit for the Missouri State Board exam. Many students go on to take the exam and receive a Missouri State license for cosmetology or esthetics. Students who take our Instructors Training program already have a Missouri license in cosmetology or esthetics. After completing our program, they may go on to sit for the MO State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners Instructor exam.
Of special interest, students in our esthetics program may qualify to take the international
CIDESCO exam and earn a CIDESCO diploma, which is recognized worldwide.
Although we cannot guarantee employment after graduation, completing one of our programs at SSAKC can prepare you for a number of career choices in the beauty industry. Students might go on to work in a professional salon or spa, manage or own their own salon or spa, become a beauty school instructor, work as a product representative, and more. We are proud to help prepare students for the business of the beauty industry.
Our students practice the skills they learn at our Student Salon and Student Spa. Real guests from the community book services that the students provide. This gives them real-world experience of working in a professional setting while interacting with guests. All services provided by students are under the supervision of licensed professionals.
Students are also allowed to showcase their skills in fashion shows and contests. To prepare them for the business of beauty, we offer career-related help, including mock interviews, resume and cover letter writing assistance, job search resources, and career fairs.
At SSAKC, our instructors genuinely care about the success of their students. We keep class sizes small so each student gets the personalized attention they deserve. We maintain an encouraging atmosphere that nurtures the passion and skill you already have. Also, our courses include educating students on the business aspects of the beauty industry, which is vital to your future if you choose to pursue a beauty career.
