How to Get Financial Aid for Your Cosmetology/Esthetics Programs

If you’ve been dreaming of a career in cosmetology or esthetics, our world-class training programs at Summit Salon Academy will give you a competitive advantage in life. However, we know that some of our students will need financial help with tuition, supplies, and other expenses, and we’re here to help you make that career dream come true. Students seeking financial aid for their cosmetology or esthetics program at Summit Salon Academy can apply for scholarships, grants, and/or loans.

Scholarships and grants. There are a variety of scholarship and grant opportunities available from the American Association of Cosmetology Schools. Their offerings change frequently, so be sure to check back to their Grants & Scholarship programs page often. Scholarships and grants are often less than the full tuition price of a training program, but they can significantly offset these expenses for students on a tight budget.

Federal student loans and grants. Summit Salon Academy accepts Pell Grants and Federal Financial Aid for students in our program who qualify. The federal government, through the US Department of Education, provides these opportunities for students whose income qualifies for assistance. The help is available for both students who attend a participating college or a university and those who attend participating career training schools, such as Summit Salon Academy. Most federal aid is not based on grades or other academic merits, and federal loans and grants make up nearly 70 percent of all student aid awarded in the country each year. Applying for federal financial aid is easy because their user-friendly website helps navigate you through the process, and even makes it easy to report income by securely linking directly to the student’s IRS income data. The first step is to fill out a FAFSA, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, on the federal student aid website. Just click on the Start FAFSA Application link here.

Private student loans. For students who don’t qualify for scholarships or federal grants and loans but still need help playing for their professional training, there are private loan options available. The terms and conditions for these will vary. You can look for loans through your own bank or other financial institution or work with TFC Tuition Financing to find a loan that works for you. To contact TFC Tuition Financing, just follow the Paying for College link here.

If you’re applying for private grants or scholarships, be prepared to submit a package that includes a short personal essay (one to two pages) that discusses your work and school experience as well as your plans for success during and after your training program. A well-organized essay flows smoothly and gets the attention of the person or people responsible for approving the scholarships or grants, so take time to prepare your package well.
